If you're really looking for a place here in Southern Oregon that would give you the ultimate camping experience, head over to the Spalding Pond Campground. This primitive campground is located near the iconic and historic mill site pond in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest.

This natural wonder is perfect for outdoor activities since it's surrounded by various landscapes. Also, fishing is the most popular activity to do here and it has a fishing platform and accessible trail. The pond is annually stocked with rainbow trout by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. The best times to fish are the seasons of Spring to early Summer.

Like what's said earlier, the Spalding Pond Campground is a primitive type camping area which means that there's not a lot of facilities around. There's no drinking water, toilet, and garbage disposal. However, the camp does have four campsites that come with firepits and picnic table. It follows a first-come, first served basis policy so anyone can just come here, set up camp, and have a great time.

The best way to get here is via Grants Pass, Oregon. You need to drive along Highway 199/Redwood Highway at Hayes Hill. After that, take a turn at Forest Road 25 and just drive straight for eight miles until you reach Forest Road 2524. From there, take a left and just go about six miles until you reach the campsite.
