The Gearhart Mountain Wilderness offers a vast area of untouched forests, stunning landscape views, rock formations, and so much more. It's a 22,684-acre area that lies along the boundary of East Klamath County and Lake County. The mountain itself is a beauty of its own, standing at a towering elevation higher than any other volcanic domes in the surrounding area.
The wilderness also has the Blue Lake and the North Fork of the Sprague River which means that there's just so many natural attractions to see here.
The main pathway, Gearhart Mountain Trail, offers visitors a 13-mile hike that can be accessed via foot or horse and leads to the lovely waters of the Blue Lake. There are also other trails connecting to it which are the Boulder Springs Trail and Deming Creek Trailhead.
Overall, the trails are manageable with an easy terrain that comes with lush green vegetation, open forestland, and beautiful flowers in bloom. But aside from that, the wilderness is also a must-see during Winter because it becomes a snowshoeing and backcountry skiing spot.
There are tons of activities to do here given its vast area of different natural landscapes. Guests can do hiking, biking, fishing, horse riding, camping, and nature viewing. It's one of the best natural attractions near Klamath County so why not check it out whenever you're in town.
