Medford, Oregon has a long history in racing and when last track was close down, people were looking for the next spot to build the new track. Fortunately, they found the Jackson County Sports Park to be the perfect place to set up the new track and thus, the Southern Oregon Speedway was built. It was in April 1996 when John Skinner's creation opened to the public.
The oval track, which is made out of clay, measures about 3/10ths with banking so that racers can drive side by side as they race around the track. Plus, Skinner put up a top quality and state-of-the-art scoring tower that comes with a private room for special guests, media outlets, and VIP sponsors.
The race track has a couple of divisions that it hosts which includes Pro Stocks, IMCA Modifieds, and Mini Stocks. Aside from that, there's also another smaller track measuring about a one-eighth mile for the use of Micro Sprints and Go Karts. This smaller race track is where a mix of kids of different ages start to learn the sport of racing.
Rates And Schedules
The schedule of the track are as follows: pit gates open at 4:00 PM, grandstands open at 5:00 PM, practice starts at 5:30 PM and the racing starts at 7:00 PM.
