Everything’s just ducky over by Grant Pass homes. Residents are gearing up for the annual Rotary Duck Derby on Saturday, September 17, 2016. All the ducks will land in the water around noontime. Entry into the event is easy. Locals of Josephine County can get in on all the fun by adopting a duck from various facilities in the Grants Pass real estate area. Stop into Oregon Books and Games, the Daily Courier Office or any Rogue Credit Union Branch to officially put a rubber ducky in the running. Adopted ducks waddling in the race are assigned a number matched to the entry form.

Competition starts with up to 25,000 bright yellow ducks being dropped into the Rogue River off the Parkway Bridge at Baker Park. When all the ducks are in a row they will float their way downstream along the river’s tide. The first lucky duck to pass the finish line will bring in a prize of a $15,000 credit to one of four area car dealerships.
Other prizes awarded are also impressive, including gift cards, memberships, pizza for a year and a weekly beach house rental. Weekly prizes are also currently being awarded to those living in and around Grants Pass real estate as they adopt ducks.
Proceeds from the Rotary Duck Derby benefit the Josephine County Rotary Club. This year’s project is a covered amphitheater perfect for field trips, weddings and other community events at Wildlife Images. More information can be found online including official rules and participating businesses.
