People who live in Ashland and love music and comedy should make a date to go to the Oregon Cabaret and see what’s playing. The OCT was founded in 1986 and has grown from a small theater performing 30 shows a year to a nationally-recognized venue with a year-round season of 270 performances of five amazing shows. The cabaret’s building is the meticulously restored and expanded First Baptist Church of Ashland, which was built in 1911. Craig Hudson purchased the building in 1982 and spent the next four years bringing the fine details of the Ashland property back to life, from stained glass windows to beautiful landscaping. A gorgeous crystal chandelier was installed, a piece rescued from an old movie palace in Pennsylvania.
